Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime Confirmed Features as Device Gets Korean Certification

By

Samsung always made sure it releases several variants of its flagship. Previously, the Samsung Galaxy S4 came out in other versions like Samsung Galaxy S4 mini and Galaxy S4 Active. The same is true for its current flagship, Samsung Galaxy S5. Samsung has already released the Galaxy S5 Active variant while reports suggest it has been preparing for a Prime edition as well. As the name implies, the phone will come with premium features targeting the high end market -can it deliver?

Previously, Samsung's JK Shin was asked about the release of the Prime edition. Nonetheless, the Samsung executive denied the company's plan about the device. Android Geeks pointed out that the Samsung official refused the existence of the device because the company does not want to discourage Samsung Galaxy S5 sales. The company will avoid people waiting out for the release of the Prime variant creating more opportunities for sale later in the year. There are also reports suggesting that Shin denied the prime variant because the company is planning on introducing a completely new line of handsets called the Galaxy F series.

Well known tipster @evleaks has provided details on the possible Samsung Galaxy F or Galaxy S5 Prime series. According to the leak, Samsung will launch the product during an "Unpacked Ep. 2" event. If the Galaxy S5 Prime will not push through and become the Galaxy F series instead, it can take place of the Samsung Galaxy S6 flagship. According to the leaked photo and recent reports, features include:

  • 5.3-inch Quad HD
  • 2560 x 1440 resolution
  • quad-core Snapdragon 805 SoC (reportedly the most powerful from Qualcomm yet)

Based from the photo, the device features thinner bezels and metallic finish. It is difficult to see it will really have a metallic build or just a finish. G for Games also reported about the device's certification in three variants: SM-G906S, SM-G906K and SM-G906L. There were three devices certified for three networks in Korea: LG U+, KT and SKT.
