Game of Thrones Season 4 Finale: Clues and Theories

By

It's been yet another brilliant season for HBO hit TV series "Game of Thrones." A lot of fans are still probably getting over all the brutalities that happened in the previous episodes, but the finale is finally almost here, and it will surely be nothing short of exciting.

In preparation for the Season 4 finale entitled "The Children"--which will come to an end on Sunday, June 15, at 9pm on HBO--here are some clues and theories to keep you entertained.

Warning: spoilers (both the TV series and the books) ahead.

1. Jon Snow's parents

One of the biggest questions is about Jon Snow's parents' identities. Ned Stark said that Jon's mother was a lowborn named Wylla, but some theories suggest that this may be more complicated as it seems.

One of the most talked about theories is that Jon is actually the bastard of Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen: "Lyanna was killed in the Rebellion, and with her dying breath, implored Ned to promise her something. We don't know the content of the promise, but while Ned contemplates Robert's bastards, his mind drifts to Lyanna, the promise, and to Rhaegar - it's a pretty logical sequence of events if you consider that Jon was Lyanna and Rhaegar's bastard."

2. Tyrion's fate

The death of Prince Oberyn (Tyrion's champion after demanding trial by combat) has made Lord Tywin give his son the death sentence. Will everyone's favorite Lannister be killed this season? Some theories suggest that he may be able to escape.

3. Lady Stoneheart

Those who read George R.R. Martin's third "A Song of Ice and Fire" book ("A Storm of Swords") know that Lady Catelyn will resurrect as Lady Stoneheart. No reference has been made in the TV series, but rumor has it that she'll be revealed in this season's final episode. Lena Headey, who plays Cersei Lannister, also posted a picture on Instagram of stones forming a heart--could this be a sign of the spine-chilling resurrection?

4. Jon Snow's fate

Episode 9 ("The Watchers on the Wall") concentrated on the bloody battle after the wildlings attacked Castle Black. The episode ended with Jon Snow leaving the Wall to look for Mance Rayder. Many think that the show's favorite bastard wouldn't be killed just yet, as Kit Harrington reportedly said that he will be back for the show's fifth season.

5. Arya's fate

Arya was The Hound's hostage for a while now, but all this changes after they find out that her aunt Lysa is dead. Where is the youngest Stark girl headed now? One theory suggests that she could be actually somebody else's new hostage.
