The fourth season of hit HBO series "Game of Thrones" has just been concluded with shocking turn of events and unexpected twists. To celebrate yet another brilliant season, here's a list of some of its best and most shocking moments.
Warning: MAJOR spoilers ahead.
Joffrey's death - Those who read the books already know this, but for those who only follow the TV series, this is a real shocker. After the Red Wedding in Season 4, another wedding death happened--the boy king that everyone loves to hate was poisoned in his own wedidng (dubbed as the "Purple Wedding"). The final scene--with his purple face and bloody eyes--was nothing short of horrific.
Jaime raping Cersei - One of the most controversial scenes in Season 4 is when Jaime rapes his own sister and lover. They were in front of their son's corpse when he starts to make advances to Cersei, who repeatedly said no.
Tyrion's speech at his trial - Tyrion's speech telling everyone how he's guilty "of being a dwarf" is perhaps one of the most intense lines uttered this season: "I did not kill Joffrey but I wish that I had! Watching your vicious bastard die gave me more relief than a thousand lying whores! I wish I was monster you think I am. I wish I had enough poison for the whole pack of you. I would gladly give my life to watch you all swallow it."
To celebrate that amazing speech, here's an equally incredible alternate ending:
Lysa's death - Littlefinger admits to Lysa that there he's only ever loved one woman--his sister Catelyn. He then pushes her to the Eyrie's terrifying moon door, where the Arryns do executions (or, as Lysa's son Robert puts it, "make people fly").
Oberyn's death - Prince Oberyn, who volunteered to be Tyrion's champion in trial by combat, was brutally killed by The Mountain, who gouged out his eyes, and made his head explode with his bare hands. It was a good fight, and Oberyn almost killed him, but judging by what we saw in the finale, this was not enough, as he could still be alive.
Cersei's confession to Tywin - Most viewers probably never saw this coming. Cersei finally admits the incest to his father--something that he might have already known, but refuses to believe--in order to stay with what remains of her family (Tommen and Jaime).
Tywin's death - Finally, the last death this season--Tywin Lannister's. After Tyrion finds Shae in his father's chambers, he gets a crossbow and kills him, telling him that he's his son--a son he'd always wanted dead.
