Rupert Grint, best known for playing Ron Weasley in the "Harry Potter" movies, is making his Broadway debut in Terrence McNally's comedy "It's Only a Play."

Grint, who made his first West End stage debut last year in the revival of "Mojo," will play Frank Finger, a successful young director of a new play written by an anxious writer whose career is in danger as he awaits reviews (played by Tony Award winning actor Matthew Broderick).

The all-star cast of the comedy also includes F. Murray Abraham, Megan Mullally, Nathan Lane, Stockard Channing, and Micah Stock.

"As the show roars onward, the playwright passes the time with his TV star best friend (Lane), his producer (Mullally), the show's leading lady (Channing), an infamous critic (Abraham), and a fresh-faced coat check attendant (Stock)," reported Entertainment Weekly.

"I'm thrilled to be making my Broadway debut alongside this amazing cast and creative team," said Grint in a statement.

Terrence McNally, a four-time Tony award-winning playwright, has recently represented Broadway with "Mother and Sons," which marked his 50th year in the industry.

"It's Only a Play," according to the New York Theater Guide, is "a Broadway comedy about the comedy of Broadway." It first premiered in new york in 1986 at the Manhattan Theatre Club.

Directed by Jack O'Brien ("The Full Monty," "Hairspray"), and produced by Tom Kirdahy, Roy Furman and Ken Davenport, the 2014 play will open on October 9 at Schoenfeld Theatre in New York City. Previews will start in September 2014, and it's set to run for 17 weeks.

Meanwhile, Grint's Harry Potter co-star Daniel Radcliffe is also on Broadway for "The Cripple of Inishmaan," which ends in July. This is now Radcliffe's third Broadway run, after "Equus" and "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying."
