2014 NBA Free Agent Predictions: Will LeBron James resign with the heat?

By

Four years after the infamous "The Decision", the NBA world is one again turning its eyes on LeBron James as he enters this summer as a free agent. And whether or not the Heat succeeded on winning a historical 3-peat, this was bound to happen because James would have a free-agency decision to make in the off-season. So here we are, once again, patiently waiting and wondering what LeBron will do next.

But perhaps the biggest question in everyone's mind is: Will LeBron stick with the Miami Heat, or will he be playing for championships elsewhere? And LeBron's answer to the world?

"You guys are trying to find answers, I'm not going to give you one. I'm just not going to give it to you." in his response to the media after the Heat were eliminated by the Spurs in the finals in Game 5.

But everyone knows that LeBron will have to make a decision. Now, since we are left with no definite answers, will just have to make intelligent assumptions for the time being.

But why would LeBron even consider leaving the Heat anyway? The answer to such a question rests on the new collective bargaining agreement, which might stop Miami's front office from bringing in key players that would help him win championships.

The new CBA features a brutal tax structure that makes it extremely costly - due to tax penalties that can triple or even quadruple - for Heat owner Micky Arison to resign Wade, Bosh, and James, and go over the required cap room for 2014.

If LeBron sees that it would be difficult for the Heat to surround him with the talent that he needs to win championships, then it makes sense for him to opt out and entertain offers from teams with a younger and deeper roster.

During the finals, we saw Wade on the decline, Bosh not living up to his standards, and a mediocre bench that made things even harder for James. It was all LeBron James for the Heat and if nothing significant will come to the team - in terms or roster improvement - their is no reason why James wouldn't change locales.

But amidst the tricky salary cap restrictions that Miami will face, we can not overlook one very important fact - even the new CBA, with its harsh tax penalties, can never hinder players from taking less money as what Miami's Big Three did in 2010.

Before, people thought that Super Stars where driven by money but somehow James, Bosh, and Wade made the decision to take less money for a chance at making a dynasty in the NBA.

For now, its safe to say that LeBron's decision - on choosing a team - is not driven by money but on winning. He knows that Heat can win championships but he also knows that their some holes that the teams needs to fill if ever it wants to have another shot at winning another NBA title.

In the end, the decision lies in LeBron and we can't do anything but wait and wonder on what he will do in the coming 2014 NBA Free agency.
