Posters and a new trailer for the much-awaited Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie are finally out, revealing more details on the upcoming action movie. Here are some things that we know so far.
It looks like director Jonathan Liebesman and producer Michael Bay have created a lot of action, bringing to life some of the most beloved cartoon characters of the 90s: Leonardo (voiced by "Jackass" star Johnny Knoxville), Raphael (Alan Ritchson), Michaelangelo (Noel Fisher), and Donatello (Jeremy Howard).
Before the trailer was released, Megan Fox, who plays reported April O'Neil, asked fans to vote for their favorite ninja turtle by tweeting their name. This would then unlock a poster of the chosen turtle turtle (view the posters here), and would give them access to the new trailer.
The new trailer opens up with a battle between the turtles and the evil Foot Clan, saving April O'Neil (played by Megan Fox).
The Latino Review reports: "Darkness has settled over New York City as Shredder and his evil Foot Clan have an iron grip on everything from the police to the politicians. The future is grim until four unlikely outcast brothers rise from the sewers and discover their destiny as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The Turtles must work with fearless reporter April and her wise-cracking cameraman Vern Fenwick to save the city and unravel Shredder's diabolical plan."
The creators ditched April's yellow jumpsuit--Fox wearers a canary leather jacket instead. The trailer also finally showed Shredder (voiced by "Monk" star Tony Shalhoub).
One of the biggest details that has finally been clarified is the turtles-being-aliens theory. There had been an online outrage after Bay said that the aliens would be an alien race.
In the new trailer, April finally clears things up:
"So they're aliens?" asks Vern, played by April's cameraman, played by Will Arnett.
"No, that's stupid. They're turtles," April answers.
"Is there anything else we should know about them?" asks Bernadette, played by Whoopi Goldberg
"They're ninjas." said April.
"Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" hits theaters on April 8.
