Comedian Tracy Morgan's health is improving. Last week, he was released from the hospital and transferred to an undisclosed rehab facility, where he will reportedly be staying for the next few weeks.
Morgan's rep released a statement saying: "While he is continuing to show signs of improvement, he still has a long way to go ... He and [his fiancée] Megan wanted to publicly express their deepest gratitude to everyone at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital for the unbelievable care and attention they provided him."
Last June 7, 2014, Comedians Morgan and Ardie Fuqua, and Morgan's assistant Jeffrey Milea, were severely injured in a car crash on the New Jersey Turnpike, when the limo they were in collided with a Walmart truck. The crash killed their fellow comedian and friend James McNair.
Deadline reported that Millea's condition has been upgraded to "fair." Fuqua still reportedly is in a critical condition.
Kevin Roper, the driver of the Walmart truck, has been charged with vehicular homicide. He pleaded not guilty to one count of death by auto and four counts of assault by auto, and is currently free on bail.
ABC News reported that after a preliminary report issued by the National Transportation Safety Board, it was found that Roper was going 20mph hour over the speed limit. Prosecutors also said that he had been awake for 24 hours before the accident.
"Mr. Roper has entered a plea of not guilty. It was not an artificial exercise, but rather the first step in defending the charges that have been filed against him," said Roper's lawyer David Jay Glassman.
"The initial investigation results released yesterday by the NTSB have only served to bolster our intention to aggressively defend the matter to the fullest," Mr Glassman added.
