iOS 8 Beta 2 for iPhone and iPad Now Available: How to Download

By

The iOS 8 Beta 2 for iPhone and iPad can now be downloaded manually. Those who wish to experience what Apple has in store this fall can follow the steps provided.

Disclaimer: Users cannot hold providers of the update liable for what happens to their units following installation. They can upload at their own risk.

1. Back up your iOS device

-Installing the iOS 8 beta involves a range of risks because it could damage your device. Be careful because even the public versions of iOS can sometimes have some unexpected problems. Like in iOS 7.1.1, some users experienced data loss. To be safe from all this, be sure to back up your devices using iCloud or an external hard drive.

2. Download iOS 8 (legitimately or not)

-If you choose to go legitimate, sign up for Apple's iOS developer program that costs $99 a year. It also takes 24 hours to be activated, but once it is activated, you can log in here. Apple will guide you through the process. You can download iOS 8 beta here, as well as other untested OS X and iTunes software.

-If you choose not to pay for the download, there are a number of third party websites that can provide the required files to install iOS 8. Be careful in downloading through third party websites because these sites are illegal and the files downloaded from there can damage your computer with viruses and malware.

3. Download the ISPW file and install

-Make sure that your iTunes version is up to date, and your device's UDID should be registered with IMZDL. You should keep your device plugged in during the installation process because the process takes quite a while and may drain your battery quickly. To start the install, simply open iTunes and choose "restore your iPhone." Mac users should hold down the Alt or Option button when clicking restore, while Windows users should hold the Shift key down.

4. Enjoy and Watch out for bugs

-Enjoy the new OS and check out all the cool features that are available. Also, be on the lookout for unexpected bugs that may pop up. If you are unhappy with iOS 8 beta, you can still downgrade from iOS 8 to iOS 7.1
