Netflix has recently released the trailer for the fourth and final season of "The Killing."

There will be six episodes this season. Detective Linden (played by Mireille Enos) and Holder (Joel Kinnaman)--who are struggling with the fallout from last season--are looking into the case of a seemingly happy family being murdered--the only survivor is the son Kyle (Tyler Ross), who was shot in the head. They investigate Kyle's school, an all-boy's military academy, run by headmaster Colonel Margaret Rayne (Joan Allen).

Other cast members to watch out for this season are Gregg Henry (Carl Reddick), Sterling Beaumon (Lincoln Knopf) and Levi Meaden (AJ Fielding).

Series developer and executive producer Veena Sud will return as showrunner, with Dawn Prestwich and Nicole Yorkin returning as writers and executive producers.

The show was canceled by AMC in 2012 after only two seasons, but was revived that the same year. It was once again cancelled in 2013 after its third season, but resurrected after a production deal by AMC, Fox Television Studios, and Netflix.

Cindy Holland, a Netflix representative, talked about the network's decision to bring the show back: "The rich, serialized storytelling in 'The Killing' thrives on Netflix, and we believe that it is only fitting to give Sarah Linden and Stephen Holder a proper send off. [...] We are looking forward to offering fans - both existing and new - a series that we know is perfectly suited for on-demand viewing."

"The Killing" season will premiere on August 1, 2014. The first three seasons are available for streaming on Netflix.
