Iron Man 4 is in the news again, after Robert Downey Jr. recently told his Facebook fans that he is out of work in two days. There is a rumor in the industry about the cast of Iron Man 4, as Downey Jr's contract has been expired with the producers. Therefore, Iron Man 4 return continues to be in doubt-Will Robert Downey Jr. return as Tony stark?
Robert Downey Jr. told his fans that he has completed shooting for his role for Avengers part II. Whereas, Avengers 2 director, Joss Whendon, told that film is only partially shooted.
Such statements gave room to the rumors that the Iron Man might be killed in the Avengers sequel. However, nothing is confirmed as of now.
Marvel Studios President, Kevin Feige, remarked in an interview with Entertainment weekly that Iron Man 4 will happen with or without Downey Jr.
He said, "I believe there will be a fourth Iron Man film and a fifth and a sixth and a 10th and a 20th," adding, "I see no reason why Tony Stark can't be as evergreen as James Bond, or Batman for that matter, or Spider-Man. I think Iron Man is a character just like that."
On the other hand, in a survey by two popular movie fan sites, Colin Farrell is the popular choice for the actor who should be the next Tony Stark in the Iron Man 4.
According to What Culture, "Farrell has a strong resemblance to Downey's Stark, filling out a suit nicely and working a very similar hair style. He also proved in Bruges that he can spit out the rapid-fire quick-wit dialogue as good as anyone."
But Robert Downey Jr. is not yet ready to let go of the Iron Man armor.
In an interview with MTV, he said, "I would really hate for someone else to think they could step into my shoes. I wonder who's playing Tony Stark next. Is it you? Is that what you're here to tell me? I know things are looking like that they could go on for a long while. As usual in my book, it's all about quality control and delivering a product that you can have this kind of reaction to. If they keep doing that, maybe I'll keep showing up."
However, there has been recasting of actors in superhero movies like Superman, Batman and Spiderman. Even Marvel has re-casted replacing Ed Norton with Mark Ruffalo for 'The Avengers' and Terrence Howard with Don Cheadle for 'Iron Man 2.' Hence, nothing can be said as of now.
So, will there be a restart in Marvel? The time will tell.
