Fans of "Attack on Titan" can expect a sequel to the anime, but the waiting is not nearly over. Wit Studios have confirmed a season 2, with the first part, "Crimson Bow and Arrow," scheduled for a winter release this November, and the second part, "Wings of Freedom," to be released early 2015.
In the meantime, Wit Studios is busy with other related projects including OVAs.
"Attack on Titan," or "Shingeki no Kyojin," follows the lives of Eren Jaeger, Mikasa Ackerman, and Armin Arlert in a post-apocalyptic setting where humans are limited to walled cities to keep them safe from titans.
Jaeger, the main protagonist of the manga and anime, joins the Survey Corps after witnessing the death of his mother on the hands of a titan and promises to exact revenge by killing them all. Ackerman, who is adapted into the Jaeger household, promises to stay with Jaeger to protect him. Arlert, the unlikely tactician of the trio, banks on his ability to strategize to compensate for his weak physical strength.
As the anime starts its second season, the trio along with the Survey Corps will be unmasking the moles in their group. Identities of new titans will be revealed.
Since the anime's first release, it has been accepted with warm reception, which prompted for a live action movie with Japanese actor Haruma Miura playing the role of vengeful Jaeger. The anime, which some consider as the best anime of the last decade, is compared to HBO's hit show "Game of Thrones." Both delve in a fantasy world where nobody is safe. Fans of both shows have seen numerous character deaths as the stories progressed.
Part 1 of the first season is already available on Blu-Ray, while the second part will be available on September 23, 2014. "Attack on Titan" with subtitles is also available on Netflix.
