The Vampire Diaries Season 6 Spoilers: Elena Willing to Die to be with Damon; Stefan to Turn to Surprising Source of Comfort; Ian Somerhalder Not to Reprise his Role?

With Season 6 of "The Vampire Diaries" set to premiere on October 2, fans are eager to know what will happen in Mystic Falls after last season closing with Damon's death. Rumors are swirling that Stefan will be handling the loss of his brother with the help of a surprising source, and one that is not Elena or Caroline.

Director Jeffrey Hunt describes the comeback episode as an emotional roller coaster with surprising twists. Season five concluded with the biggest cliffhanger yet, with Bonnie and Damon lost to the Other Side and presumed dead. But it's Mystic Falls, and in Mystic Falls, no one remains dead

However, Breathe Cast speculates that Ian Somerhalder might not reprise his role as Damon Salvatore, which could spell a different direction for the show. Will Damon Salvatore's death be permanent?

Meanwhile, heartbroken Elena Gilbert, played by Somerhalder's ex-girlfriend Nina Dobrev, deals with the aftermath. IB Times sees Elena bent on doing what she can to be reunited with her beloved, and goes even as far as saying she would die without hesitation to be with Damon.

Aside from Elena, Stefan is also nursing a broken heart from the loss of his brother, and Fashion Style reports that his source of comfort will be someone surprising. Many wonder if he will turn to old flame Elena or their mutual friend Caroline, but Wet Paint says the two girls would not be the most surprising option. One guess is Enzo, who has been promoted to series regular for the sixth season.

With Enzo in the picture, the two could bond over their brotherly love for Damon. Avid viewers will remember that the Augustine vampire spent some time with Damon as his cell mate before their bond was severed and Enzo became hell-bent on ruining the relationship of the Salvatore brothers.
