Word has been going around that Jennifer Lopez and "Dancing With the Stars" Maksim Chmerkovskiy are dating, after the "American Idol" host's break-up with Casper Smart.
The two have been spotted in public a couple of times after the hit dance show ended, but this was pretty much it. J.Lo was still getting over Smart (allegedly having a meltdown while at it), and Chmerkovskiy was spotted getting cozy with other women in the Hamptons.
The rumors were put to rest by "King of Queens" star Leah Remini, a good friend of the "I Luh Ya Papi" singer. In an interview with "Watch What Happens Live!" Remini said that the two are "not an item" and are "just friends."
Talking to New York Daily News, Chmerkovskiy confirmed that he is not dating J.Lo: "With the Jennifer thing, look, we're friends and ... we're friends. This is it. This is where it ends, pretty much."
Chmerkovskiy also said that having a relationship in Hollywood is tough, but it is not impossible to balance fame and a relationship. He cited soon-to-be parents Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes as examples:
"Look at Eva and Ryan having a baby. I think their relationship is amazing, because it's so quiet and nobody knows anything about it. And so those two people are professional, they're amazing at what they do, and they're strong enough to be able to keep it to themselves. That's brilliant. I envy them and I look up to couples like this."
American figure skater Meryl Davis, Chmerkovskiy's "Dancing With The Stars" partner, has also been linked to the 34-year-old dancing hunk, but this, too, is untrue.
"I'm not dating J.Lo, Meryl and Kate [Upton]. Maybe I'm dating all three, who knows. I love Meryl. We're friends and we'll always be," he told Access Hollywood.
