Tom Cruise has finally found a new lady love in Swedish actress Rebecca Ferguson-well, at least in theory.
The actress, who won a Golden Globe nod for playing Queen Elizabeth in the BBC/Starz miniseries "The White Queen" has been confirmed to play the new coveted female lead opposite Tom Cruise's Ethan Hunt for Mission: Impossible 5, Hitflix reports.
Rebecca is said to play the right hand woman of Ethan in the next installment of the popular action spy movie. However, more details about her new character are yet to be confirmed. Joining her in the ranks of the M:I 5 cast are returning stars Jeremy Renner and Simon Pegg. Alec Baldwin is also rumored to be in talks to play the head of the CIA of the Christopher McQuarrie-directed sequel, according to Kpopstarz.
Cruise, who just concluded sci-fi blockbuster "Edge of Tomorrow" is up for a busy schedule. In addition to starting M:I 5's UK shooting, the actor is reported to reprise his role of Jack Reacher, star in Go Like Hell and return for a rumored Top Gun sequel. He was also supposedly in talks for a cameo appearance in Star Wars: Episode VII. The 51-year old actor who is close friends with Star Wars director and Mission: Impossible producer J.J. Abrams was said to have met with the producer for drinks and dinner at the Belgravia Hotel to discuss about a potential role according to the DailyMail.
Of course, Ethan Hunt's leading lady is not going to let herself get left behind as well. In addition to her new Mission: Impossible role, Rebecca will also appear in the newest adaptation of Hecules starring Dwayne Johnson and in other upcoming projects such as Despite the Falling Snow and The Red Tent.
The fifth installment of the Mission: Impossible franchise will be up against major competitors like Star Wars, leaving both creators and actors under pressure to level up their performances. The release date for the movie is set to be on Christmas 2015.
