The news of Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes welcoming their first child shocked the world. It seems like actress was bluffing all those times she claimed that she is not interested in being a mother.

According to a report, Eva always wanted motherhood but kept claiming otherwise because she wasn't sure if it would happen.

A source reportedly told British magazine Closer, 'Eva downplayed having a family because she didn't know whether it was going to happen for her, but she has always wanted to be a mom."

"Ryan is being really supportive, and they can't wait for their little arrival," said the source.

Mendes being seven months pregnant broke on July 9 when she was spotted by photographers, trying to hide her belly. She kept herself totally out of the spotlight, hiding their little secret until they were ready to share it with the world.

People Magazine reported, saying Mendes, who is due in October, "Just hasn't wanted anyone beyond her close friends and family knowing more than they had to," and that Gosling "is certainly private and always has been" as well.

"Their lives completely changed as soon as Eva got pregnant," said a source. "They used to travel all over the place together and go on hikes with their dogs."

But in the last few months, Mendes "barely left the house," adds the source. "Ryan has been taking care of her, picking up food and running errands. He has been very supportive about keeping things a secret."

However, despite initial claims of having no interest in being parents, the couple seems to be ready and extremely excited about their new phase of life.

"This has been a long time coming," a pal reportedly said. "Ryan and Eva definitely discussed children before. She knows how much he wants to be a dad and he's going to be an amazing father."

On the other hand, Ryan's ex-girlfriend and the Notebook co-star Rachel McAdams is reportedly sad over the news.

According to Page six reports, she was spotted drinking in Cannes, France.

The actress seemed to be "drowning her sorrows with martinis" at the Hotel Martinez in Cannes, the outlet claims.

Rachel didn't take the news well, "[Rachel]'s devastated," a source close to the actress told OK Magazine.

Also, some fans of the Notebook couple took out their frustration over the baby news on Twitter.

"It's on the line of creepy and embarrassing how pissed I am about Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes."

On the other hand, host Ellen DeGeneres graciously congratulated the couple, saying: "Congrats to @RyanGosling and@EvaMendes! That's going to be the most beautiful, bilingual, part-superhero, well-dressed, romantic baby ever."
