Disney Channel Argentina Accused of Plagiarizing Korean Pop Idol Group Infinite’s Track “Come Back Again”

By

"Violetta," a Disney Channel Argentina show released the track entitled "Queen of the Dancefloor," for its upcoming Season 3 but it was met with speculations that the song was suspiciously similar to Korean Idol group Infinite's debut song, "Come Back Again."

While it is still not certain whether the track was plagiarized or not, a lot of people have seen close similarities between the two tracks. The composition of "Queen of the Dancefloor" is almost identical to Infinite's song, most especially its first part, chorus, and refrain. According to Infinite7Soul, even the formatting of the vocals is surprisingly like idol group's song.

This is not the first time a Korean pop song was allegedly copied and plagiarized by other foreign artists. One notable example is SHINee's song "Juliette." The song was reportedly similar to Disney Channel's "Deal With It" by Corbin Blue.

Woolim Entertainment, the talent agency of Infinite, was reportedly not aware of the issue. A representative from the agency stated, "We need to contact the composer and closely listen to the song's interpretation before taking any further actions."

Fansites and video-sharing website users have also noticed similarities between some Disney show soundtracks to other popular Kpop songs. The song "Euforia," for instance, reportedly sounds very much like SHINee's "Dream Girl," while Disney's "Voy Por Ti" is almost identical to Super Junior's "Sorry Sorry."

It is not clear, however, whether SM Entertainment, the agency that handles SHINee and Super Junior knows about the reports. Most of the alleged acts of plagiarism were brought to media attention by fans through YouTube and KPop fansites.

Meanwhile, Infinite is currently busy for the promotions of their comeback album "Be Back". The album was recently released with the main track "Back."
