Reprising their roles from "Divergent," Shailene Woodley and Theo James would be back on the silver screen real soon with the latest film installment based from the Veronica Roth book series, Breathecast reported. Reaping $54 million from its opening weekend and a total of $270 million in gross sales around the world, it is expected that "Insurgent" will be gaining as much, especially since Woodley and James have become households name due to the first film.
Set to be released on March 20 next year, the cast and crew are currently under filming and have approached film production with the same, if not a better effort than the first installment.
For "Insurgent," Woodley's and James' Tris and Four characters would be faced with chief antagonist Peter Hayes, who will be played, coincidentally, by Miles Teller. Long before Woodley became a household name, she earned rave reviews alongside Teller in their indie darling "The Spectacular Now" as unlikely high-school lovers.
MoviePilot quoted "Insurgent" producer Lucy Fisher, who disclosed how she enticed Teller to join his former co-star in the dystopian film franchise. She said, "One of the ways we enticed Miles Teller to do the movie was to say, 'You're going to get to beat up Shai!"
Meanwhile, Teller clarified that he did not revel in the thought that he would be punching Woodley or any other girl for a movie. He was quoted in one of his interviews, "I said, you know, how's this going to look? It's kind of hard to redeem yourself . But that's just this ["Divergent's"] world."
Based on the novels from Veronica Roth, "Divergent" and "Insurgent" are poised to become one of the most successful film adaptations from books in Hollywood. As production for "Insurgent" is still ongoing, talk has also started that producers are eyeing to make the third installment of the movie franchise titled "Allegiant." Hallels said the last movie would be split into two parts, with the first part to be released on March 18, 2016, while the second part will debut on March 24, 2017.
