After being absent from E3, Konami has decided not to stay quiet all year by announcing on their site that they will host a gala event at Cologne, Germany in this year's Gamescom. The entire event will be dedicated to revealing new information on their upcoming critically acclaimed video game franchise Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain.

The hour-long event will start at 8:00 PM CET and will be held on August 13, 2014 at Cologne's Musical Dome. Fans and the press will be glad to hear that the event will be hosted by Geoff Keighley along with the video game's director himself, Hideo Kojima and both of them will be participating in a live Q&A panel. The entire event will be streamed live on Konami's Twitch channel for those who cannot attend the event.

Konami has stated that audiences and fans of the game franchise will be thoroughly impressed with their presentation which will highlight how innovative and ambitious the features of the open-world of Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain is going to be. They will be also showing off what the FOX engine's features and capabilities that have never been seen before and how it fully utilize today's new generation of consoles.

Although Konami and Hideo Kojima himself have yet to reveal the game's release date, there have been numerous speculations when it will actually be available to play. But in a recent interview with Hideo Kojima by The Guardian, they seem to have leaked the release date for Metal Gear 5: The Phantom Pain which is on March 17, 2015 for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. Since then, the release date has been changed to early 2015, but not before a user on Reddit was able to preserve a screenshot of the original interview.

All the evidence points that the leak might be correct, since there are no big games slated to be released on March 2015 and it will be a full year after the release of the prologue game, Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes which the fans were able to get earlier this year.
