Samsung's latest mid-range flagship, the Galaxy Alpha, was the talk of the town this week as a UK retailer leaked its features and estimated price to the public. Have a look at the anticipated features.
The tech world has been abuzz these past couple of days with rumors of the Samsung Galaxy Alpha's specs. Several reports suggest that the phone's specs were leaked by a UK retailer MobileFun accidentally. The company reportedly started taking pre orders for the said model. The page on the retailer's website containing the specs, which was live when news of the specs leak first broke, was recently taken down according to Trusted Reviews.
Samsung has yet to officially launch the Galaxy Alpha, which is their answer to the growing demand for high-quality materials in a mid-range phone. Here are the features to expect on the Galaxy Alpha, if the leak is to be believed:
- Metallic finish. Samsung is said to have a metallic finish overall, with an aluminum trim. Rumors also say the phone will be offered in black as an alternative. The back will have a perforated design, similar to the Samsung Galaxy S5. It is said to be 6mm thick.
- Octa-Core Processor / Chipset. The Galaxy Alpha is rumored to carry either Samsung's own Exynos 5 Octa processor, or the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset.
- Android Kit-Kat 4.4.2 OS. No special software was leaked, but the phone is said to run on Android Kitkat 4.4.2 out of the box, with 32 GB memory and a fingerprint scanner.
- 4.7-inch Super AMOLED Display. The size isn't as bulky as the Galaxy S5, but it is rumored to carry what is now the standard size for mid-range smartphones. The super AMOLED display is expected to offer crisp images, with a resolution of 1280x720 pixels and pixel density of 320dpi.
- 4G Network and Other Connectivity. The Galaxy Alpha is said to feature LTE-A connectivity, Bluetooth 4.0 with A2DP, Wi-Fi, EDR, LE, and micro-USB.
- 12 MP Camera with Autofocus. It comes with an LED flash, video recording capability, and a 2.1 MP secondary camera in front.
The handset is believed to sell at around $945. No date has been confirmed for the official launch and availability of the Galaxy Alpha, but rumors peg the launch at August 13.
