A&E's "Longmire" has not yet renewed for a fourth season, but fans of the crime drama are hopeful the show is returning for another season, Enstarz reports.
The series' season finale featured a major cliffhanger that did not just left a lot of questions from the viewers but also hinted that the show is up for a follow-up season. In addition, the network seems to be pulling for the series, CarteMatt reports.
A&E is still conducting promotions online even though the series has not been renewed for a fourth season yet. "Longmire," together with other shows such as "Duck Dynasty" and "Bates Motel," has been strongly present in social media. This proves the show continues to have a solid following from viewers.
According to tvseriesfinale.com, "Longmire's" third season finished last week with 3.6 million viewers, which was way down from Season 2's 4.42 million. The show finished with an average of 3.5 million viewers which is lower than the previous season's average of 3.7 million.
The ratings of the show took a dip during its second season but it managed to go steadily on the following season. Despite the problems in ratings, "Longmire" continued to be the network's most popular scripted series.
"Longmire" is shot in New Mexico, while it is set in Wyoming. The drama focuses on the daily life of Wyoming sherrif Walt Longmire played by Robert Taylor. Other cast members include, Katee Sackhoff, Cassidy Freeman, Lou Diamond Phillips, Bailey Chase, and Adam Bartley.
The finale showed a lot of action. Sheriff Walt finally learned the truth about Miller Beck's murder and Branch potentially killed by his own father following some revelations about the family business. The finale ended with unresolved storylines, making viewers hopeful for another run of the show.
This is not the first time the show got picked up late in the game. Last year, season 3 was confirmed halfway through November. This could mean "Longmire" has plenty of time before it is seen as good for gone.
