Dancing with the Stars Dance Pros for the upcoming season will not be adding Maksim Chmerkovskiy to the list, as the dancer apparently wouldn't dance without partner Meryl Davis and is content with winning the Mirror Ball trophy once. He might be an unconfirmed judge for the show instead.
According to KpopStarz, the Dance Pros for the new season of Dancing with the Stars will be Mark Ballas, Val Chmerkovskiy, Cheryl Burke, Karina Smirnoff, and Tony Dovolani. Chmerkovskiy himself admitted in an interview that he doesn't "want to replace Meryl," and that the experience is dear and special, with "so much emotion involved into it."
The Dance Pros will be competing for the Mirror Ball trophy, but Chmerkovskiy said that nobody will be able to connect with him on the same level as Davis, and that he doesn't intend to win numerous times. "I just want to win once. It couldn't be more perfect," Chmerkovskiy spoke about winning the trophy last year.
Just recently, dancing partners Chmerkovskiy and Davis have apparently reunited, but not for dancing. Chmerkovskiy and Davis were rumored to be romantically involved because of their onscreen and off-screen chemistry, but the two did not comment on the issue. According to Travelers Today, the two recently reunited and had breakfast together, with the two posting on their separate Instagram accounts about the meeting.
While Chmerkovskiy will not be dancing on the show without Davis, he will be seen in Seattle for the Ballroom with a Twist in 5th Avenue Theatre on August 15-17. The dancer will be appearing in the dance/music show alongside Karina Smirnoff, Sharna Burgess, and older brother Val Chmerjovskiy. Performers from American Idol and So You Think You Can Dance will also be appearing on Ballroom with a Twist.
There are also some rumors that Chmerkovskiy could be a judge, but ABC has not released an official announcement of the upcoming judges yet.
With Chmerkovskiy and other pros not returning on Dancing with the Stars, new pros will be taking their place, reports Liberty Voice. Three new pros in the name of Keoikantse "Keo" Motsepe, Allison Holker, and Artem Chigvintsev will be joining the show, continues the Liberty Voice article. As for the celebrity cast, the announcement will be revealed on September 4 on Good Morning America.
Dancing with the Stars will return on September 15th for its 19th season.
