After two years of silence, "Serena" is slated for a UK release, with a possible US release coming soon. The Jennifer Lawrence-Bradley Cooper team-up will grace screens once again in this depression-period drama that could land another Oscar nomination for both actors.
The two-time Oscar nominee and the Oscar-winning "Hunger Games" star play the role of husband and wife George and Serena Pemberton in "Serena," a period drama directed by Susanne Bier. According to Indie Wire, the Pembertons are "love-struck newly-weds" who "begin to build a timber empire." The article continues: "Serena soon proves herself to be equal to any man: overseeing loggers, hunting rattle-snakes, even saving a man's life in the wilderness."
However, MTV states that things will change when Serena finds out she can't get pregnant. The character will allegedly go to a spiral of madness.
Considering Lawrence and Cooper are both known for their versatility in acting and have proven their on-screen chemistry in "Silver Linings Playbook" and "American Hustle," it is a question why the movie, which has wrapped production two years ago, have not been released yet. Following the wrap of "Silver Livings Playbook," MTV says that the movie was shot in March 2012 in the Czech Republic with Susanne Bier directing the adaptation of Ron Rash's bestselling 2008 novel. The setting is the 1920s in North Carolina. According to Stylist, Angelina Jolie was the first choice to play the role with "Black Swan" director Darren Aronofsky on the helm.
Indie Wire notes that the movie has not had any festival appearances and trailers yet. Few pictures have been released, adds the article. The movie has been dubbed as the "missing movie" because of the lack of activity, but it seems to be having some movement recently. According to Indie Wire, "Serena" is now slated for an October 24 UK release.
No word yet on when it will come to the US, but it could happen soon, says MTV.
Should the movie be released in the US, it will be followed by appearances from Jennifer Lawrence, but with that still unconfirmed, the actor will allegedly be joining rumored boyfriend Chris Martin in "Coldplay" tour. The Independent reports the 24-year-old actress and the singer to have "grown close so rapidly" and that Lawrence has some downtime in her schedule to have some fun with Martin on the "Ghost Stories" US tour. The tour will be heading to Los Angeles, New York, and Chicago. Also according to the article, the 37-year-old "Coldplay" front man doesn't want to go on tour without his loved ones, including his children with Gwyneth Paltrow.
