"Brooklyn Nine-Nine" Gains a Couple New Cast Members: Eva Longoria, Ed Helms and Kyra Sedgwick

By

Fox's cop-show-meets-sitcom "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" premiered last year to enormous critical acclaim. Now, for the show's second season, Fox is bolstering up the cast with a fresh crop of actors.

According to TV Guide, Ed Helms is slated for a guest spot in the seventh episode of season two. He'll be playing an agent of the United States Postal inspection Service, who'll be at odds with hero cop (and perpetual manchild) Jae Peralta. Like Peralta and season one guest star Patton Oswalt, we can probably assume that these two will spend an entire half-hour bickering with each other like children.

And like last season, it'll probably be hysterically funny.

Next up on the guest star list is Kyra Sedgwick. Announced in another piece from TV Guide, she'll be playing a deputy chief who's not a particular fan of Captain Holt. And seen in the picture above, that seems extremely obvious.

Given the way they're glaring at each other, these two are obviously not friends.

Executive producer Dan Goor also talked about Sedgwick's upcoming role:

"Kyra brings so much presence and gravitas to the role - exactly the traits needed to stand off against Andre Braugher. And she pitched one of the funniest flashbacks that we've ever done!"

Finally, Eva Longoria is also announced to be joining the next season. As per The Wrap, she'll be playing a defense attorney that's at odds with Jake Peralta (that seems to be a common thread here).

However, the piece also indicates that she'll "[catch] his attention," which may mean a romantic relationship is in the cards. And given where Peralta currently stands with Santiago, this could mean a love triangle is coming next season.

What do you think? It could be an interesting twist.

Check back soon for the latest on "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" and its second season.
