The year 2014 has brought tech junkies many wonderful phablet choices in the market. The high number of manufacturers competing in the market have given consumers phablets that perform almost as well as devices from the more well-known brands, but at friendlier prices. Below are some of the best Android phablets that come at budget prices, in no particular order:
OnePlus One
Price: $300
The OnePlus One has been compared in GizMag alongside big players like the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, the HTC One Max, and the Nokia Lumia 1520. The magnesium back gives the phone a solid, premium feel, and its 5.5-inch screen boasts a 1920x1080p resolution with a density of 401 ppi, which is even better than the LG G2 Pro. Other notable features include a 2.5 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor, 16 or 64 GB internal memory with 3 GB RAM, a 13 MP main camera with 5 MP front-facing camera, and a 3100 mAh battery.
Huawei Ascend Mate 2 4G
Price: $299
The Huawei Ascend Mate 2 4G LTE recently became available on Fry Electronics, and its price of $299 puts it in the budget phablet category. This midrange phablet features a 6.1-inch 720p IPS display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass; a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset, with a quad-core 1.6 GHz Cortex-A7 processor and Adreno 305 GPU; a 13 MP main camera with a 5 MP front-facing camera; and a monster 3900 mAh battery.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G
Price: about $162
Earlier in August, Chinese brand Xiaomi officially announced the LTE-capable version of their first phablet, the Redmi Note. According to Phone Arena, the phablet features a quad-core 1.6 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 CPU with 4G radio; internal storage of 8 GB with 2 GB RAM; microSD expansion of up to 64 GB; a 5.5-inch, 1280x720px screen; a 13 MP main camera with a 5 MP front-facing camera; and a 3100 mAh battery. Xiaomi announced the Redmi Note 4G to retail at 999 yuan, or approximately $162 - a price that definitely knocks the competition out of the ballpark given the features it offers.
