NBA Trade Rumors: Phoenix Suns want three-headed monster in guard position; Not interested in trading Eric Bledsoe to the Minnesota Timberwolves

By

Despite the Minnesota Timberwolves late push on acquiring Eric Bledsoe before the October 1 deadline, the Phoenix Suns aren't just interested in a sign-and-trade deal with the team with their prized free agent guard. The Wolves just don't have the assets that would force the the Suns to pull the trigger on Bledsoe on a trade deal for Bledsoe this offseason according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports:

The Phoenix Suns have no interest in sign-and-trade discussions with the Minnesota Timberwolves involving restricted free-agent guard Eric Bledsoe, league sources told Yahoo Sports. The Suns would want an All-Star - or potential All-Star - in return for Bledsoe and had only considered Kevin Love in a possible sign-and-trade scenario with the Timberwolves, league sources told Yahoo Sports. Minnesota eventually traded Love to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Or perhaps the Suns just want Bledsoe to be part of a deadly back court trio with Goran Dragic and Isiah Thomas? Coach Jeff Hornacek loves young talented guards because they are the heart and soul of the aggressive and entertaining run-and-gun style of his Suns team. And if you have three young, talented, and explosive guards in Bledsoe, Dragic, and Thomas in your roster, it's very fun and exiting to watch and a nightmare for opposing teams.

Jeff Hornacek had this to say, per Bryan Gibberman of ArizonaSports.com:

That's what our vision is. You hear the three-headed monster about big guys all the time, but maybe we got the three-headed monster in the guards. There is going to be two of those guys on the court at all times. When it happens, teams are going to have to plan for that and really focus.

A three-headed monster of Bledsoe, Dragic, and Thomas may just be the most lethal combination in the guard position that we would see in the NBA in the coming season. It may also just be what the Suns needs to take them over the hill and into the playoffs in the tough Western Conference. To make it possible though, they need to deal with Bledsoe's contract extension first and the deadline is already nearing with both sides still in their long-standing, drama filled stale mate.
