HBO's "True Detective" enters in the midst of "web conspiracy" on Season 2. Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn joins cast lineup.
New cast recruit Frank Semyon, who aims to navigate the murder case for his business partner, will be portrayed by "Wedding Crashers" star Vince Vaughn. HBO's full description of Semyon's character reads, "a career criminal in danger of losing his empire when his move into legitimate enterprise is upended by the murder of a business partner."
Meanwhile, newcomer Ray Velcoro introduces himself, who ushers from police corruption. The character, who is explained as, "a compromised detective whose allegiances are torn between his masters in a corrupt police department and the mobster who owns him," will be played by 38-year old Irish film actor, "Winter's Tale" star Colin Farrell. On a report from TV Line exposes the actor's announcement on joining the highly anticipated HBO series.
"I'm doing the second series. I'm so excited. I know it will be eight episodes and take around four or five months to shoot," he told an Irish newspaper.
The official 'True Detective' Season 2 synopsis reads, "Three police officers and a career criminal must navigate a web of conspiracy in the aftermath of a murder." The installment will definitely revolve on the death of a Local City manager, whom Vaughn and Farrell will investigate.
The source, then, reported several sets of stars that are rumored to include on the final casting lineup namely, Rachel McAdams ("The Vow" & "The Notebook"), Elisabeth Moss ("Mad Men"), "Friday Night Lights" alum Taylor Kitsch.
In addition, HBO's Programming Chief Michael Lombardo teases the fans on an interview of what to arise on the upcoming season. "We're going to do the next season with puppets," he jokes. "The two scripts we have are...more exciting than the first season."
"True Detective" Season 2 is set to premiere on summer 2015.
