"The Fappening 3" is here, and it allegedly brings more private photos of celebrities, albeit not all of them being naked. Jennifer Lawrence remains as a victim, while new celebrities Cara Delevingne and Anna Kendrick join in. Olympic athlete Misty May-Treanor and TV presenter, Brook Burns have also had their privacies invaded.
The third installment of the massive nude photo hack which has been dubbed "The Fappening" has arrived carrying more leaked photos shortly after the second batch was released. According to IB Times, the photos were posted on 4Chan and Reddit on Friday, September 26, which was coincidentally a day after FBI director James Comey allegedly criticized Apple and Google for "marketing phones that are inaccessible to hacking and law enforcement." According to The Wall Street Journal, Comey said that phones being marketed by Apple and Google do not allow law enforcement to search them.
Since the first batch of photos has been leaked, the FBI had been investigating the hack, but until now the images keep coming. The first batch of photos was released on August 31 and included numerous photos of over 100 celebrities, most being female. Among the first victims were Jennifer Lawrence, Kate Upton, Ariana Grande, Kirsten Dunst, Victoria Justice, and McKayla Maroney.
IB Times shares that the second batch had been revealed on September 20, adding Amber Heard, Candice Swanepoel, and Scarlett Johansson to its victims. Furthermore, Hollywood Life lists Kim Kardashian, Hope Solo, Hayden Penettiere, Leelee Sobieski, and Mary-Kate Olsen. Though it is dubbed as "The Fappening 3," it apparently remains unconfirmed whether the latest batch of photos is part of the first leaks.
Alexandra Chando, Kelli Garner, Mena Suvari, Briana Evigan, and Lauren O'Neil were also allegedly part of the latest invasion of privacy.
While other celebrities are seen in "various states of undress" Hollywood Life shares that Kendrick's photos have her clothed, though in "revealing costumes." The article also says that most of the images don't show the faces of the celebrities.
Apple has been the biggest name to blame for the leaked photos, but The Daily Beast reports the company denying a security breach in their iCloud system in a September 2 press release. "Certain celebrity accounts were compromised by a very targeted attack on user names, passwords and security questions, a practice that has become all too common on the Internet. None of the cases we have investigated has resulted from any breach in any of Apple's systems including iCloud or Find my iPhone," Apple's press release stated.
