Acer Liquid Z500 Released; Targets Music Lovers

By

Acer has just released another smartphone to cope up with the intensifying competition. According to Acer's official press release, "Listening to music, streaming movies or taking photos - Liquid Z500 is stocked with the whole world of entertainment." Acer has just released the Z500 in the market last September 15.

High-Quality "True" Sound

According to TechRacar's report, the Z500's main highlight is its "CD-quality" sound, what Acer calls "true sound." Acer credits this to their "powerful and advanced HD-front speakers" and the added DTS Studio Sound, which enhances their audio quality.

Acer has been mum about much of the Z500's remaining features. NDTV Gadgets lists a 5-inch screen with unspecified resolution, but according to Acer is an HD IPS screen; an 8 MP main camera - which, according to Acer, features F2.0 aperture and 900:1 high contrast - and 8.65mm thickness. TechRadar lists the same specs, along with the three colors available: Titanium Black, Aquamarine Green and Sandy Silver. NDTV also notes that the Z500 has a metallic textured design.

More Specs Revealed; Memory Limited

A hands-on review by Recombu on YouTube says the phone has low-level specs, but for its price the phone feels solid and premium. According to their review, the screen's resolution is 720p, The Z500 comes with an Android 4.4 KitKat,and it only has 4 GB of internal storage, 1 GB RAM, and no expandable memory. This could easily go against their selling point of portable media, as the memory is very limited and media will have to be streamed online.

The Acer Z500 was already released in Europe on September 15. Acer has not released word on a North America and a worldwide release date. According to TechRadar, the price estimated at 149 euros, or $195, which places the phone in the budget category.

The latter part of the year has been filled with IFA releases. Tech companies like Acer continue to experiment with different smartphones to penetrate market shares often dominated by Samsung, Apple and Google.
