Samsung Galaxy S5 was released in February, but it has not been without problems. The smartphone allegedly causes massive battery drain, which can be solved using battery saving tips and a software update.
According to Christian Today, customers have been complaining about the Galaxy S5, particularly because of the low battery life. The article says that S5 only has a standby time of 10 hours. Moreover, some are experiencing overheating problems, especially when the smartphone is in use. This is baffling customers especially since Galaxy S5's case is made of pure plastic.
Some sites have already listed tips on how to deal with battery problems. Yahoo Tech reminds to close unnecessary background apps and those that are not in use. The camera, games, and social media apps are some that can add to battery drainage.
Android Central also encourages battery saving tips such as lowering the screen brightness. Turning off the WiFi, Bluetooth, and GPS when not in use also helps, says the website. Vibrations can be disabled to further save more battery.
Firmware updates can also help improve the battery life and performance of Samsung Galaxy S5, shares The Epoch Times. According to the article, there is an Android 4.4.4 KitKat update ready for the handset, which not only solves problems, but also prepares the smartphone for the Voice over LTE technology.
The update is allegedly an answer to bugs and unresolved problems including incorrect unread email number notification and camera shutter sounds. It is slowly being pushed to carriers, with Verizon seeming to get it first. "Android 4.4.4 KitKat update hit the Verizon Galazy S5. The update was a bit of a surprise given how slow Verizon typically is to Android updates. The update's change log was never publicized though there's chatter about it fixing a Bluetooth issue," explains Gotta Be Mobile.
The Epoch Times adds that aside from resolving bugs and notification problems, the new update also offers more tracking features for S-Health.
