Are people taking this whole Renee Zellweger thing too far?
That seems to be the current consensus. And in case you're not in the know, the formed "Bridget Jones" actress has been making waves lately with a drastically different face. Was it due to aging? Plastic surgery? The causes aren't clear, but social media has been blowing up over the actress's sudden change in looks.
People published a recent piece about the comments that Zellweger has been getting online- which range from the "good for her" variety to the "what's wrong with her face kind."
Below is a sample of each.
"Her body, her mind, her soul. Who cares? Whatever makes her happy"
"Who does she think she's kidding? Being happier and healthier is awesome, but aging doesn't cause an eye lift ... a plastic surgeon does. Renée, good grief! Just be honest!"
Above is a picture of the new Zellweger, so you can judge for yourself.
SFGate, however, wasn't satisfied with Internet commenters, and grabbed actual plastic surgeons to review the photos and make a judgement for themselves. Here's what one doc said:
"If you cover her eyes and just compare the lower face, her look is more similar to before than when you compare only the top parts. I think she's actually had both a brow lift and upper lids done. I don't think Botox alone can account for this much change in her eyebrow arch, although it might be contributing to it. I think the changed eyebrow shape is the most prominent reason why she looks so different. Her upper lids have less skin as well and are more open."
According to the Washington Post, Zellweger is taking all of this in stride, so she's probably unfazed by all the commenting that's happened (and will, most likely, continue to happen for the foreseeable future).
