NBA Rumors: Boston Celtics finalizing their roster for the regular season; Will exercise their options for Tyler Zeller, Jared Sullinger, and Kelly Olynyk

The Boston Celtics are starting to finalize their roster for the 2014-15 regular season according to NESN. Head Coach Brad Stevins has already made it known to Erik Murphy, Tim Frazier, Christian Watford and Rodney McGruder that their contracts will be waived after a team practice on Tuesday.

"We're going to keep Tim through (Wednesday) night, and he knows that, because of potential minutes," Stevens said before practice, per ESPN Boston. "But all four of those guys will be waived and they've been great. I wish I didn't have to waive them, they've been great teammates, they've put in extra work, they've come back in small groups and worked. "But a couple of them had made mention that they've gotten better, and that makes me feel good. They were all real professionals about it. I will root for them for sure."

After the Celtics roster-trimming move, Christian Watford is likely headed to the team's D-League affiliate in Maine. David Pick of Eurobasket.com has reported Wednesday that Watford will start the season with the Red Claws.

The move puts the Celtics roster down to 16 which means that the team needs to cut one more player out of the roster to keep them in the regular-season limit of 15 player. The team is expecting to trade Will Bynum and his $2.9 million contract although The Boston Herald's Mark Murphy, citing a source, reveals that the possibility of moving his contract to another team is "slim," and it is more likely he'll be waived by the end of the week.

The Celtics are also planning to keep their young, promising big man rotation of Tyler Zeller, Jared Sullinger, and Kelly Olynyk according to A. Sherrod Blakely who confirmed the report that Boston will pick up the options of the three.
