Android 5.0 Lollipop vs Apple iOS 8: Google Can Win through Multiple Accounts and Material Design

By

Apple went ahead with the release of the iOS 8 but this does not mean that Google won't have anything in store. The company has announced its Android 5.0 Lollipop update and so far many analysts are giving the thumbs up to it. While the update will be released in November, Forbes already commended Google for striking the right balance between the design and functionality of the platform. The Material design is set to bring new user experience and feel to the interface. Accounts integration, on other hand, can boost the Android update past other mobile operating systems platforms.

Apple has been the leading player in intuitive design throughout the years challenging Google's platform to address fragmentation and overall user experience. This may not be the problem anymore as Google works on revolutionizing its interface. Forbes noted that the Android 5.0 Lollipop offers a stronger component library that can unify in-house apps with third party programs. While this may take some time, Google has been taking the necessary steps towards achieving it.

The Droid Life supports the potential of Material design describing the UI as "beautiful." Android has not been best known for its aesthetics but it may change following the release of Lollipop and its Material Design. Google changed the menus with floating buttons and new icons. The hamburger menu now also slides from the edge with a new rotating arrow animation.

To further change and level up its game, Android will not release its update apps up until the official launch of the update. Android Geeks reported that people can expect an instant access upon release with several of the programs sporting a new design philosophy. The Android 5.0 Lollipop update is expected to be available with the Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 this November 3. Other Android devices will reportedly have access to the new firmware around December.
