The fate of the Rachel Bilson rom-com "Hart of Dixie" may have been foretold by the CW's decision to hold the show's midseason premiere and by ordering only 10 episodes.
Executive producer Leila Gerstein said to E! News about the rumored cancellation, "Well, I can't speak to that, as the decision to renew or cancel is out of my hands. I can tell the fans that this season is for you and you're going to love this season. No one is going to feel unsatisfied by the end. Obviously we hope for many, many more seasons but everyone will be happy with this season."
She was also chose to not categorically comment about the Season 4 finale being the show's conclusion and added, "That's hard to say. I will say that there is a lot of closure in the season finale and there is a definite feeling of celebration at the end of the season. But there are also certainly doors left open for the future!"
Does this mean that Zoe, played by Bilson, will finally have a happy ending with Wade (Wilson Bethel)? CarterMatt.com noticed that the promotional material for Season 4 appears to have a common theme, and that is Zoe's mission to get back with the blonde heartthrob. Gerstein disclosed to TV Line about Zoe's initial progress with her scheme, "Of course, Zoe being Zoe, she will begin the episode going about it all the wrong ways. She will first ask him to the movies, which is all low key. Then Wanda and AnnaBeth convince her to make a big romantic gesture, which she will also do to no avail. She will try seduction. And she will try various things in her confused Zoe way."
Naturally, it would be evident that Wade will be careful around Zoe considering the many times he got burned in the show. But will a pregnancy be a factor to these two characters finally getting back together?
Earlier this year, CW president Mark Pedowitz revealed at a press tour that the show would definitely address Bilson's pregnancy, Bustle said. On the other hand, the site said that Gerstein and the writers should tread carefully with this twist considering that fans would prefer to have the pregnancy as a welcome surprise after Zoe and Wade get back together rather than a paternity scandal.
