We have initially reported last August that the dark-gothic director Tim Burton will be making a sequel to his 80s hit movie "Beetlejuice". While Michael Keaton was reported to reprise his role as the obnoxious, devious ghost Beetlejuice, Ryder's character is yet to be confirmed.
Fret no more since the director himself confirmed that Winona Ryder will be joining the Beetlejuice Sequel.
In a recent interview with MTV News, Tim Burton laid it all down and said that "Beetlejuice 2" is happening and some very familiar faces will make their reappearance in the sequel. When MTV News asked the director if he is going to be at the helm of "Beetlejuice 2" he said "Oh yeah," and when he was asked if Winona Ryder will return?
"Oh yeah, yeah yeah yeah," he said. "Oh yeah, oh yeah. Yeah yeah, oh yeah."
Now that's more than the confirmation we need to hear from the director that Winona Ryder will be on board "Beetlejuice 2". According the said report, Burton said that "I worked with [Ryder], I hadn't seen her in a while... and she was so great," he also added that "I was so happy to see her. So those kinds of elements mean something to me. Michael, and her... and that character, I just miss it, there's some freedom about that character that I love."
Fans will remember that their beloved idol rose to fame with her role in the 1988 Beetlejuice when she portrayed the character of Lydia Deetz, the gothic teen who became friends with Beetlejuice.
It was initially reported by The Daily Beast that Winona Ryder will reprise her role wherein she said that "I'm kind of sworn to secrecy," adding, "But it sounds like it might be happening." She also said that "It's not a remake," Ryder said. "It's 27 years later. And I have to say, I love Lydia [Deetz, her character] so much. She was such a huge part of me. I would be really interested in what she is doing 27 years later."
Tim Burton also said to MTV News that his work with Winona Ryder on a recent The Killers video helped him decide to make her a part of "Beetlejuice 2". What are your thoughts on Ryder joining the Beetlejuice sequel? Share your comments below!
