'God of War 4' Gameplay Rumored to Appear at E3 2015; Sony Claims We'll See the Next 'God of War' in 'The Next Year or Two'

By

If you thought Kratos had swung his last pair of chained blades or decapitated his last Greek god, we've got some good news for you.

"God of War 4" is officially in development, as confirmed by Sony.

The news first comes from IGN- they spoke to Cody Barlog, the Creative Director at Sony's Santa Monica Studios, and have the first details as confirmed by Barlog.

Here's what we know so far.

"God of War 4" is real.

"God of War 4" is "definitely not a prequel."

"God of War 4" might be a reboot, according to IGN.

Barlog will be sharing more info within "the next year or two."

"God of War 4" may or may not include longtime series protagonist Kratos- Sony (or Barlog) isn't saying just yet.

And that's about all we know right now. Sony's keeping their lips zipped, but that rumor about a reboot is a juicy one. GameRevolution thinks that a reboot might be good for "God of War," and might bring the series an opportunity to have Kratos disembowel the dieties of a different ancient mythology.

KDramaStars, though, has a number of rumors on when we might see "God of War 4." First, they're backing up the current info about "the next year or two"- and saying the game might be on store shelves sometime in 2016 or 2017.

But they have something else, and something big. KDramaStars quotes the site "Cyberland," claiming that we'll see the first appearance of "God of War 4" at next year's E3.

Think it's true? Will we be seeing the further adventures of maybe-Kratos in 2015? Barlog did say "a year or two," and technically E3 2015 would fit within that time period. Or it could all just be a rumor, and we won't be seeing any "God of War" news until mid-2016.

Check back soon for the latest updates on "God of War 4."
