'The Winds of Winter' book is closely patterned after the story of Song of Ice and Fire , another George R.R. Martin novel. Reportedly, the Song of Ice and Fire novel is being projected for a 2017 release, in lieu of the unannounced release date of Winds of Winter.
George's publisher in the UK, Jane Johnson, said that she had no idea about the number of Winds of Winter novel series the author planned to release:
"In all honest only George knows how many books there will be in the series and he's not saying,"
"Indeed, at this stage of his writing, with the many branching pathways of the characters' stories still to intersect, he may not know."
According to Breathe Cast, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly earlier this year, Martin said, "I think we're gonna start out with a big smash with the two enormous battles."
Martin made this statement that got fans even more excited and suspenseful:
"We have more deaths, and we have more betrayals. We have more marriages."
In another article from IDigital Times, predictions of deaths of Arya Stark and Tyrion Lannister in the Winds of Winter novel seemed to rule in the pipeline, as an abstract from a warning in a spoilers report stated:
"Predictions are made for the number of chapters told from the point of view of each character in the next two novels in George R. R. Martin's emph{A Song of Ice and Fire} series by fitting a random effects model to a matrix of point-of-view chapters in the earlier novels using Bayesian methods. {textbf{SPOILER WARNING: readers who have not read all five existing novels in the series should not read further, as major plot points will be spoiled."
