Is 'Hart of Dixie' cancelled? TV show's fate hangs in the balance as cancellation rumors loom

By

Fans of The CW Network's dramedy, starring Rachel Bilson flew into a panic when rumors of the show's cancellation after the show's current season circulated all over the Internet. The show was notably absent from the list of shows that announced an early renewal. So, what is the real score?

The CW's president Mark Pedowitz spoke out and said that the show was not necessarily going to be cancelled at the end of its current season. As it is, the show seems to be going strong in its current season, but the network is still hesitant about bringing the show back for a fifth season, a report with Enstarz says.

The CW Network had renewed eight of its shows including Jane the Virgin, The Flash, as well as Vampire Diaries.

"We're going to look at the ratings. We'll get an opportunity to see how it plays with 'Jane the Virgin.' If it ends, [this season] is a great series finale. But we're not committed one way or another." he said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

The network executive also added that it depends on how many viewers would actually tune in before announcing that if the show does get cancelled, fans won't be disappointed by how the show would end.

This is the show's fourth season and is notably shorter compared to the previous seasons with only ten episodes. This is mostly due to the fact that Bilson is pregnant with her first child and had gone on maternity leave, which made the show shorter. In the meantime, fans are still waiting for reassurance as to the show's cancellation status.

Hart of Dixie airs on Fridays at 8/7c on The CW.

What do you think of the cancellation rumors? Has the show run its course and should be cancelled? Do you want it to be renewed? Leave your comments below.
