"Kingdom Hearts 3" is the upcoming eighth installment in the Kingdom Hearts series. It is slated to be released for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One and it will continue the story from "Dream Drop Distance".
Square-Enix, the game developer of the Kingdom Hearts Series, chooses the next-gen consoles for the release of their latest game, "Kingdom Hearts 3". The team has been developing the game since it was officially announced in E3 last 2013. Tetsuya Nomura is directing the game together with Co-Director Tai Yasue. The two directors of the game have a unique approach in developing "Kingdom Hearts 3".
Tai Yasue shared some detail in an interview, saying that "Nomura has always been working on "Kingdom Hearts 3" full-time, so nothing's really changed there. Nomura is really the visionary, so he doesn't work on the nitty gritty details. That's something we do in Osaka; alongside development, we do the technology." According to the report, Yasue said that "We get Nomura's input but it's not a day-to-day thing, he just has these big ideas sometimes he tells us about. The pace really depends on how our team's doing and that was never affected."
There were a lot of rumors on which Disney worlds will be included in the upcoming "Kingdom Hearts 3". Some speculate that "Star Wars" will be added considering that Disney already acquired the license from Lucas Films. There was also a rumor that Elsa from "Frozen" will be included as well. There are no official statements coming from Square-Enix or Disney with regard to this matter.
Reportedly, Tai Yasue assured that the worlds will have a good variation. He said that, "It's going to be a mix. Whenever we come up with worlds for Kingdom Hearts, we want to have them be varied. You don't want the same type of world, so we will have different categories. That will make it feel fresh, like you're having an adventure." Fans of the series know that these worlds form a great part of the playability and story of the "Kingdom Hearts" game series.
The game director also revealed, according to Gameranx that the game will be heading into a new direction but they are still going to fundamentals that makes it a "Kingdom Hearts" game. The introduction of the key blade transformation, the use of rides in battle and Sora going more versatile and agile, are just a sample of the innovation that Square-Enix is doing on "Kingdom Hearts 3". It was also reported that Kingdom Hearts X Heartless may make an appearance in the upcoming title.
"Kingdom Hearts 3" is slated to be released on December 31 as listed by Amazon. It is available for pre-order for $59.99 from the online store. Square-Enix and Disney has yet to make an official announcement for the release date.
