False alarm, Kendrick Lamar's new album didn't come out on January 27 as what earlier rumors mentioned. Lamar and his record label Top Dawg Entertainment clarified the issue and it turned out that prhaps there's miscommunication that happened in Wal-Mart, which posted that Lamar's album is coming this January.
The news leak about the 2012 breakthrough artist's album release came out on Section Eight, which also show the Wal-Mart's sign where the rapper's name was in the bottom of the list. The site updated it article later on and acknowledged that it's not true.
It's been three years since Lamar launched his album entitled "good kid, m.A.A.d city" which produced hit songs such as "Bitch, Don't Kill My Vibe" and "Swimming Pools (Dranky)." Last year, he released "i" which garnered praises, including from veteran Stevie Wonder who said on GQ that Lamar is "extremely talented." The 64-year award-winning singer even had a cover version of Lamar's single.
There are rumors that Lamar's third album is already finished and his camp is just choosing which date to release it. But since the singer from Compton, California has no announcement yet, some speculate that he may announce it on any of the events he will going to attend like Rose Bowl on February 21 and 22, Bonnaroo 2015 on June 11 and Wireless Festival at Finsbury Park in London in July.
Meanwhile hip-hop royalty Darryl McDaniels of Run-D.M.C commends Lamar's artistry and contribution. He shared to The Independent that Lamar is dominating the scene it just that radio stations are afraid to air his songs.
"I don't believe in conspiracy theories but people are scared of a young man that looks like that from their neighborhood talking about real issues," the 50-year old hip-hip artist. "What most do is just make a record about partying to drink it all, but he's not celebrating alcoholism. He's seeing it as a problem but not being so obvious. That' what real MCs do; he's a superhero doing it."
