UFC legend Anderson Silva cry over victory in a recent comeback fight Saturday after 13 months off the fighting arena with a broken leg.
The 39 year old fighter showed heavy blows against opponent Nick Diaz at the MGM Grand Garden octagon, amusing the fans as he dominates the fight and win it via unanimous decision. Diaz (27-10-1), though tried hard to give big blows, couldn't stood on his consistent offense.
When he was declared winner on the fight, Silva cried with relief.
"Thank you God for giving me one more chance," Silva said after the fight. "This is a very important moment for me. I went through a lot of suffering in the past year. At the beginning, I didn't think I would be able to come back."
Diaz, former Strikeforce welterweight champion, accepted his loss as he stepped in and expressed kind, encouraging words towards Silva,
When he was asked on his future, Silva said that he will go back to his family and talk to his kids.
Over seven years, Silva had won 10 straight title defenses, making him as the UFC's most dominant champion until he lost a fight over middleweight champion Chris Weidman in July 2013 and went home with a broken leg.
After few months of training and rehabilitation, Silva returned last fall and accepted the fight with Diaz.
Just like Silva, Diaz also took some time off MMA after back-to-back losses since March 2013. For his fight with Silva, Diaz gained 15 pounds compared to his last fight.
On the other hand, Tyron Woodley also won via split decision against unbeaten fighter Kelvin Gastelum during the Annual Super Bowl weekend show. On the same day, lightweight fighter Al Iaquinta got his victory over veteran Joe Lauzon in the second round.
Following his victory over fight with Diaz, Silva is up for another fight against Frank Mir on February 24,.
