After waiting for quiet some time, Samsung Galaxy S4 users can now enjoy the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop as the company finally release an Over-The-Air (OTA) update.
The update first rolled out in Samsung's 2013 flagship phablet "Galaxy Note 3" in Russia before it was released to Galaxy S4. Lollipop updates of other Samsung devices also took place in the same country.
According to the Samsung community blog SamMobile, the update rolled out to the Exynos variant of Galaxy S4 GT-I9500 (a version that are already available in the European market and other countries) via OTA.
Within the next few days, users will now see a notification on Galaxy S4 over the OTA. The update won't show up on Kies yet, but it will soon.
With regards to the installment, Samsung Galaxy S4 users are advised by IBT to free at least 3GB memory on their gadget since the firmware's size is more than 1GB (1049.17MB to be exact).
During the installation, SamMobile reminds Galaxy S4 that the phone will remove some apps such as Books, and Google Play in order to optimize the memory. Nonetheless, the OS can be installed after the process has been completed.
Android 5.0 Lollipop OS comes with the latest language material design that brings a bettter interactive user interface, amazing animation graphics, heads-up notifications, lock screen, and battery life enhancement. It also replaces Dalvik with ART as its default runtime.
In a report posted in BGR, Verizon's Galaxy S5 is also getting Android 5.0 Lollipop.
Meanwhile, HTC's Vice President Mo Versi announced it's Lollipop updates for HTC One M8 and the HTC. M7, on the other hand will miss the initial 90-day goal because the company is still working on fixing some issues.
"We've been diligently working to fix some software issues but some carrier versions will not meet our 90 day goal, which is February 1st," Versi said.
