Anderson Silva Positive for Using Steroids Creates Ruckus in the Internet

UFC Superstar, Anderson Silva, considered the greatest fighter of all time created ruckus among netizens after he was tested positive for using steroids. ESPN got the scoop that after some random out-of-competition test administered by the Nevada State Athletic Commission on January 9 after his latest match.

ESPN also got a hold of Silva's lab report, that shows not onlyis he positive with one type of steroids, but he is positive with two, namely: drostanolone and androstane. NSAC Chairman, Francisco Aguilar, confirmed the positive tests.

Silva stated on Wednesday that he has been competing in the sport for a very longtime. He said that this was his 19th fight in the UFC and he added that he was thoroughly tested and never has he been positive on drug tests.He also claimed that he has not taken any performance-enhancing drugs and he is an advocate of clean sport as reported by The Observer.

News.com reported about Dr. Marcio Tannure, the personal physician of Silva and also the medical director of the Brazilian MMA Athletic Commission, that he had talked to a Brazilan radio station and said that Silva told him personaly that he did not take any steroids.

Dr. Tannure also stated that the 39-year-old Brazilian fighter was very disappointed because it would tarnish his career. Silva also asked for a confirmation tests because he believes that the result was just a contamination or a mistake from the lab.

Silva has gone through 18 years with about 40 fights, and never was once he became positive in using performance-enhancing drug.

ESPN also got informed by NSAC Chairman Aguilar that Silva is not the only one who had failed the test but also his competitor in the said match, Nick Diaz.

Diaz was tested positive for using marijuana metabolites during a post-fight drug test. Aguilar also said that the results are still unavailable but he confirmed that Diaz's results were above the allowable limit of 150 ng/ML.

NSAC had scheduled a meeting on February 17, however Silva and Diaz will be temporarily suspended at that time. Each of the fighter will have a disciplinary meeting by then. By this time neither of the two sides have given their comments yet.
