The hiphop centric family drama, 'Empire' has been officially renewed for a second season. The show from Fox Network has even surpassed American Idol ratings that producers have officially renewed the show for a second season after just three episodes. What does season two have in store for the music mogul and his brood?
Empire has gained a huge fanbase, particularly from members of the music industry. According to a report, rap mogul P. Diddy is a fan of the show. What's even more, his adopted son, Quincy was "offered a guaranteed spot" by the producers of the show. But has Diddy banned his son from joining the cast?
In a report by Page Six, the deal fell through when Quincy had to hand over the rights to his music to 20th Century Fox. Diddy was apparently not very happy with the deal that they made his son.
"Diddy hit the roof when he learned that his son would have to sign over a portion of his music rights in relation to the show to Fox. He said there was no way his son was signing over his intellectual property. So he banned him from the show." said a source.
What is in store for the warring Lyons come season 2? In the latest episode of the show, entitled "Dangerous Bonds", we see a feud develop between brothers Jamal (Jussie Smollett) and Hakeem (Bryshere Y. Gray), after Jamal gets caught in a crossfire. The episode gets even more scandalous when Lucious (Terrence Howard) proposes to his girlfriend Anika (Grace Gealey). Meanwhile, Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) receives an anonymous gift from someone from her past.
With the drama heating up in the Lyon household, one can only expect season two to be even more tension-filled. Will Lucious finally put aside his homophobia and accept his son, Jamal? Will Jamal finally get the acceptance he seeks from his family? What is this threat that Cookie fears from her past? While the future of the Lyon family remains uncertain for now, one thing is for sure, it is shaping up to be a strong second season.
