Halo Co-Creator Releases “Midnight Star”; Game Offers Better First-Person Shooter Control Scheme

By

Halo games co-creator and Bungie Owner Alex Seropian released a brand new mobile game this Thursday, under his new independent game studio, Industrial Toys. The game is in first-person shooter genre, and it’s called Midnight Star mobile game.

As mobile devices began to sell like pancakes on the market, a lot of mobile games developers recently tried to put some twists and a bagful of random features to fps genre like completely unnecessary control schemes, and overpriced virtual items. Apparently, they later realized that some genres just don't work well on touch-paneled devices.

Other game genres, especially platformer games, have a greater chance of getting more appeal and good reviews from the general public. FPS game developers, on the other hand, would have to offer more aside from more running, more challenges, and more combat systems in their games.

Midnight star is a story where the protagonist’s research vessel gets captured by an alien race. The hero and the crew have no other way out, but to fight their way out of an alien war in order to save themselves and the rest of the humanity.

While Midnight Star mobile game lacks the immersive FPS features found on PC and consoles, the game is still an enjoyable action-packed game, as it’s made with the Unreal Engine. Despite that players can't strafe, crouch, or charge at enemies head on, the game offers an entirely different environment comparable to that of Call of Duty or Battlefield. Halo may have proved that FPS games can work on a console, but Midnight Star is something else, as there’s no other mobile game like it in its category.

Industrial Toys boasts the game's control scheme that would suit every player, even those who are only in for casual gaming. The game also features its challenging enemy AI as well as competitive online modes for players to demonstrate their gaming skills.

Midnight Star mobile game is currently available on iTunes for iOS, but an Android version is yet to be announced.
