Cory Michael Smith Reveals Spoiler About Ed Nygma's Journey of Becoming 'The Riddle' in Gotham

Gotham's riddle of a problem is yet to be resolve as another villain will be appearing in the Season 1of the TV series. The Riddler will now be joining in the pack of villains Gotham is most likely to fear, people probably know him as the quiz-loving, big-glasses-wearing Ed Nygma.

In the last episode of Gotham, the spin-off series of 'Batman', viewers were having a glimpse of ayoung man named Ed Nygma into becoming 'The Riddler', who is actually played by newbie, Cory Michael Smith.

Nygma, in the series' description, is a guy who is working for the Gotham City Police Department as a forensic examiner working alongside Jim Gordon and Harvey Bullock. He is quite helpful in numerous cases even though he annoys the detectives with his riddles, but even so his inputs are useful to them according to International Business Times.

Smith had sat down with Yahoo TV about his role's journey to becoming 'The Riddler'. In the interview, Smith said that Nygma is really not a bad guy but more of an overgrown boy. Eventually, he will become evil, Smith said in the interview that audience will start to see the changes in the character of Ed Nygma losing his patience and kindness with people, and the one who lits the fire to his evil side would be Miss Kringle.

Kristen Kringle played by Chelsea Spack is the GCPD's file clerk, she will play a major role in the transition of Nygma, said Smith. Nygma is trying to get Ms. Kringle's affection, but when things get sour with Kringle, it remains to be a mystery of how Nygma will handle the moment.

The Hollywood Reporter had a word with Smith about what excites him in his role as ED Nygma:

"What I'm really excited about is the bottom of that curve," he says. "Going from this quite innocent, well-intentioned, joyful person to starting to find this part of him that he didn't know he had - accessing this place where he responds to the unfortunate things that people are doing to him, and starting to realize how cruel people are to him and how they mistreat him, and then doing that back to them."

"He's a person who's constantly abused, and to finally reach a part of himself where he just can't take it anymore and starts doing it to other people- and it's out of anger and exhaustion, and then realizing that when you start taking controlof situations like that, you can gain power that way- it'll be something that he can start to enjoy."

Smith's excitement will also be exciting for fans of the show, because The Riddler will soon be making an appearance in the second half of the season of 'Gotham', which is airs every Monday night on Fox.
