Despite the unconfirmed possibility of 'The Legend of Korra' spin-off, many fans still show their hopes to have one, and the possibility of making an adaptation.
The rumors on the possibility of a spin-off already emerged as early as a couple years back. Fans, through Change.org petition, which already garnered over 12 thousand of signatures. Their petition suggested making a new series around the continued adventures of Avatar Aang, post-"The Last Airbender," or a prequel that centers on Roku, the Fire Nation Avatar who advised Aang.
The spin-off, however, still vague for now.
Meanwhile, one review differentiated the two series, in "Avatar: The Last Airbender," fans watched Aang, the hundred year-old boy, who has a mission to defeat the fire lord, who murdered Aang's people in his desire to rule the world, in an epic battle. "Avatar: The Legend of Korra,", on the other hand, each book (season) featured a new enemy to combat. Each victory opened a new challenge for the Avatar to turn into an opportunity.
Both 'Airbender' and 'Korra' are widely praised because of their themes. "The Last Airbender" pushed the boundaries of equality, religion and government, while the latter depicts mature theme on equality for women and same sex marriage.
As for the movie, many fans are still hoping 'Korra' to hit the big screen, like 'The Last Airbender'. Moviepilot, expressed their hope that if the adaptation will be pushed through it could be best if the actress Julia Jones will play the role of Korra. According to the review, Julia Jones may not be a familiar she was best known for her role as the shape-shifter Leah Clearwater in the Twilight franchise. It added that Jones has a strong, authoritative, and bold character while still being naturally beautiful and warm, which will be great for Korra's complex character.
However, it might take a while before Korra hits the big screen since no movie company confirmed of its adaptation, but fans of 'The Legend of Korra' will never lose hope.
