Bruce Jenner is not yet off the hook!
Investigators were quoted as saying that they will be looking into the 65-year old former Olympian's phone records in order to determine whether or not he was calling or sending text messages in the critical seconds preceding the quadruple car crash which left a lady motorist dead. The probe of Jenner's electronic communications will apparently take place despite reports that he was smoking and not texting right before the fatal crash last Saturday afternoon.
However, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department investigators are likely to examine the call and text records of the other motorists involved in the pile-up, according to a report by the Associated Press. Aside from Jenner's Cadillac Escalade, a Lexus Sedan, a Toyota Prius and a Hummer SUV figured in the pile-up along the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu. The 69-year old driver of the Lexus, Kim Howe, was the lone fatality in the accident, even while five others were brought to the hospital for treatment, the report stated.
A certain Sgt. Philip Brooks, however, said that it is still a big challenge to determine with certainty if any of the involved motorists were on their cellphones at the exact time when the collision occurred, the same AP report stated. He explained that the difference of a few seconds could render the phone records useless as evidence.
Meantime, Brooks told Access Hollywood that the former Kardashian patriarch passed a field sobriety test, indicating that he was not intoxicated during the time of the accident, and subsequently submitted blood samples for further testing. He added that it did not seem that Jenner was being chased by paparazzi during those crucial moments-reminiscent of the accident that killed Princes Diana and boyfriend Dodi Al Fayed in 1997.
Brooks also explained that the two-time Olympian's escalade only struck the rear end of the Lexus after it had already hit the Prius. This may indicate that Jenner did not start the fatal chain reaction.
In the days prior to the accident, Jenner stole the spotlight anew with his reported desire to cross the gender barrier. His recent photographs suggest what many believe to be an increasingly feminine look.
