Reports that Bruce Jenner was texting when the car he was driving crashed into another vehicle last Saturday all started when there were speculations, according to The LA Times, that a photo showed him holding a mobile phone before the crash. However, an actual photo showed Jenner holding a cigarette, not a mobile phone, while he was driving his Cadillac Escalade SUV before he rear-ended a Lexus on the northbound lane of the Pacific Coast highway in Malibu.
Authorities earlier stated that they will investigate the phone records of everyone involved in the fatal crash to check if any of them were texting and being distracted by their mobile phones before the event of the collision. Vehicular manslaughter may be charged against anyone proven to be texting or using their mobile phones while driving and causing the death of another person.
The Daily Mail reports that a publicist of Bruce Jenner, Alan Nierob, stated last Sunday that Jenner was not texting when he was driving at the moment he crashed into the rear of a Lexus sedan killing its driver, Kim Howe. Pictures of him were shown by TMZ and Radar Online that he is holding what looked like a cigarette and that he was smoking moments before the collision. Nierob also said that Bruce Jenner will also provide his phone records to assist in the investigation if the authorities requested it. Jenner was quoted in an earlier comment saying "a devastating tragedy" and that he will assist in the investigation as much as he can, as mentioned in the said report by The Daily mail.
Bruce Jenner has continued to make headlines ever since family members started leaking and gradually revealing news about his decision to undergo a sex-change transition as reported in a news article by TMZ.
