Being suspended for the third time is a problem, but the reason behind is apparently another head scratching case. Fourth grade student Aiden Steward from Texas faced disciplinary action for allegedly using the power of 'The Lord of the Rings' to make his classmates disappear.
According to International Business Times' report, Aiden's father Jason learned from Kermit Elementary School that he's son got one day suspension for telling he could do vanishing magic using a ring. Jason relayed that Principal Roxanne Greer said safety threats in their school are intolerable.
"Kids act out movies that they see. When I watched 'Superman' as a kid, I went outside and tried to fly," older Steward explained that they watched 'The Hobbit: The Battle of The Five Armies' before the incident happened on NY Daily News. "I assure you my son lacks the magical powers necessary to threaten his friend's existence. If he did, I'm sure he'd bring him right back."
The said suspension was the Aiden's third time this school year. As reported by Daily News, the nine-year old got his first punishment after calling his classmate "black", while the second one was because of a called "The Big Book of Knowledge."
"He loves that book. They were studying the solar system and he took it to school. He thought his teacher would be impressed," Jason shared said about the book that also featured pregnancy and pregnant woman, contents that offended Aiden's teacher.
Meanwhile, Greer and Kermit Independent School District Superintendent Bill Boyd don't give statement yet and mentioned they followed Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act when they first asked about the issue.
"I felt bad because I wasn't learning," Aiden Steward said in his interview with DN. "I shouldn't have done it."
