"Fifty Shades of Grey" star Dakota Johnson questions her decision to play the role of Anastasia Steele in the highly-anticipated movie and expresses being scared of fame, which she says can destroy a person.
Days before the premiere of "Fifty Shades of Grey," Dakota talks about how scary it is being known by everyone. Despite not being a stranger to the Hollywood life, with Hollywood couple Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson as her parents, Dakota still admits to having doubts about accepting the controversial role of Steele.
"Even now there are moments when I think, 'What the f*** have I done?' But most of the time I feel pretty solid about it," Dakota told The Telegraph in an interview.
Dakota's fear of being known by everyone apparently stems from the presence of social media, DNA India reports. "It's all so different now. When mom and dad were at the height of their careers and things were super-crazy and they couldn't leave their houses, there wasn't social media. It was all about autographs," the actor to play Steele alongside Jamie Dornan's Christian Grey says.
"Now everyone's the press. I feel fame is perforated: it can be glorious, but it can completely destroy a human too," Dakota adds.
According to Zee News, Dakota is also "not impressed by Hollywood" because she grew up around "really not normal people."
Despite her hesitations, Dakota talks good things about how the movie has been made. "It is quite beautiful and very intricate," the star says, describing a particular scene where she is "tied up, blindfolded and whipped."
"The details matter so much and there are rules and manners, an etiquette that goes with the whole world of if," Dakota mentions in Stella magazine.
Her parents have expressed support about her taking the role. However, Dakota says that she does not want them to see it, and even banned her mother from doing so. Her father has already promised not to.
Prior to "Fifty Shades of Grey," Dakota's projects included "21 Jump Street" and "The Five-Year Engagement."
